The Ambassador of the Argentine Republic in China, Mr. Diego Ramiro Guelar, announced in Beijing the implementation, as of June 15th, of the 10 years visa for chinese citizens travelling to Argentina for Tourism or Business reasons.
The diplomat expressed his satisfaction with the new regulation and stated that it is meant to represent an important contribution to the development of chinese tourism in Argentina. At the same time, it is expected that the provision will give a new impetus to both trade and investment into the country.
"This new visa scheme is the product of over a year's work, in which it was necessary to overcome erroneous and outdated visions of the chinese immigration to Argentina; finally, in the recent State Visit, and in the presence of Presidents Macri and Xi, it was possible to sign the agreement," said Ambassador Guelar.
Guelar added: "The development of tourism was one of the priority goals I set when I arrived in China as Chief of Mission: in 2015 and 2016 more than 100 million chinese tourists travelled around the World, but the fraction of visitors coming to our country was almost insignificant in relative terms. Therefore, the simplification of the visa procedure is a very important first step, aiming at reversing this trend. "
The new legislation prescribes a 10 years visa with multiple entries, 90 days each, for Business and Individual Tourism trips. This facility is added to the existing AVE system (Electronic Travel Authorization), which allows chinese citizens holding a valid visa issued by the United States or a Schengen Visa, and travelling as tourists to Argentina, to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization through the Internet to the National Migration Office in Argentina.
